Dana College Statement from the GPAC
Dana College Statement from the GPAC
The Great Plains Athletic Conference would like to extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Dana College community in the wake of the announcement on Thursday that they will be closing as of July 1, 2010.

Dana College was a proud charter member of the Nebraska Intercollegiate Conference (NIAC) dating back to league inception in 1969. Since the GPAC began in 2000 Dana has been an outstanding member for the last ten years. The Viking athletic teams and student-athletes competed with great honor and demonstrated athletic and academic excellence. Dana's administrators were leaders in the conference and the NAIA. The GPAC will continue to award the Christopherson All-Academic Award (Click Here) in honor of long-time Dana President Dr. Myrvin Christopherson.

In the wake of the announcement, the GPAC has agreed to post the following blanket release of all Dana student-athletes on our website. The release form is posted here:

Dana College Student-Athlete Release Form

The GPAC Transfer Rule (Click Here for the GPAC By-Laws - page 3) will be waived for all Dana student-athletes and the NAIA Residency Requirement (Click Here for the NAIA Official Handbook - page 49) is also waived if student-athletes transfer within two semesters. If a release form is required please print the form posted above.

We want to thank all the great people at Dana College for their hard work over the years and many contributions to the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

If you have any questions about the transfer process please e-mail corey.westra@gpacsports.com

In regards to future conference scheduling:

The GPAC will be looking at scheduling in the next two weeks.  Some scheduling for the 2010-11 year will be addressed; specifically football, volleyball, and basketball.  Schedules for 2011-12 and beyond will be worked on over the next few weeks as well.  Any updates will be posted to www.gpacsports.com as they become available.
