Honors for the 2010 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Women's Track and Field Season have been announced.
Doane's DeeJay Silcott was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Year. Silcott scored 21.5 points in the GPAC Championships for the Tigers. Hastings' Scott Fritz was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Year. Fritz scored 28 points in the GPAC Championships for the Broncos.
Nebraska Wesleyan's Jackie Spelts was awarded the Women's Top Performance-of-the-Meet for her record setting performance in the 5,000 meters. Her time was 17:32.37. Hastings' Scott Fritz has been awarded the Men's Top Performance-of-the-Meet. Fritz earned the honor for his record setting throw in the shot put of 18-04 meters (59-02.25 feet).
Kregg Einspahr, head coach from Concordia, was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Coach of the Year. Men's Track and Field Coach-of-the-Year honors went to Kendrick Clay from Hastings College.
Concordia and Doane tied for the women's team title each scoring 158 points on the day. Doane's men scored 192.50 points to win men's team championship honors.
The top-eight in each event at the GPAC Track and Field Championships are considered All-Conference.
The GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships were held in Hastings, Nebraska, at Hastings College.
