The University of Sioux Falls won both the women's and men's Championships at the 2010 GPAC Tennis Championships in Fremont, Nebraska. The tournament was played at the Fremont High School tennis courts. Sioux Falls will now advance both teams to the NAIA National Championship in Mobile, Alabama.
The Cougar women were the top seed in the tournament and finished the GPAC regular and postseason undefeated with their title win over Nebraska Wesleyan 5-4. The match was won by a tie-breaker. Meanwhile the second seeded Cougar men upset top seed Hastings 5-1 in the final and handed the Broncos their first conference loss of the year.
Earlier in the day on Saturday in the semifinals on the women's side Sioux Falls defeated Hastings 5-0 and Nebraska Wesleyan defeated Concordia 5-0. On the men's side Hastings was a 5-2 winner over Nebraska Wesleyan and Sioux Falls won 5-2 over Concordia in the semifinals.
On Friday in women's play three seed Concordia and four seed Hastings each posted wins. The Bulldogs defeated six seed Northwestern 9-0 and the Broncos won over five seed Morningside 7-2. On the men's side three seed Concordia and four seed Nebraska Wesleyan each posted wins. The Bulldogs defeated six seed Morningside 6-3 and the Prairie Wolves defeated five seed Doane 9-0.
