Morningside's men will take a 20 stroke lead back onto the course on Monday as the GPAC Men's Golf Qualifier #3 is played at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will host the third of four GPAC Qualifiers for the 2009-10 season.
The Mustangs battled through wind and cold and shot a 312 GPAC Men's Golf Qualifier #2 at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 6, to round out the fall season with a two round total of 605. The Mustangs lead Nebraska Wesleyan who is second with a 625. Dakota Wesleyan is third at 632.
Morningside's Cam Jacobs is the medalist leader with a 36 hole total of 144. Luke Vermeer from Northwestern is five shots off the lead with a 149 for the Red Raiders. Brayden Nurse from Morningside is third with a 152.
The fourth and final qualifier will be played on Tuesday, May 4, in Sioux Falls at the Prairie Green Golf Course. The top two teams (excluding Nebraska Wesleyan, who plays NCAA Division III for postseason) , and the medalist, will advance to the NAIA National Golf Championships May 18-21 in Silvis, Illinois.
