Northwestern Goes After GPAC Women's Basketball Title #9
Women's Basketball - Tue, Mar 16, 2010
Northwestern (Iowa) put the first points on the board and never looked back en route to a 91-83 win over rival Briar Cliff (Iowa) in the semifinals of the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship on Monday to earn the right to play in the National Championship game. The Red Raiders will meet Shawnee State (Ohio) for the title Tuesday at 9 p.m. in the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena. The game will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports.

Northwestern will put its 30-5 record on the line in its fourth national championship game since 2000. Fifteen-year head coach Earl Woudstra has previously guided his team into the title game in 2000, 2001 and 2008, taking home the trophy in 2001 and 2008. His team has the opportunity to become the third program to win a trio of national titles, all of which reside in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
