Mustangs Advance to Play Ozarks in Second Round

Defending national champion Morningside (Iowa) raced out to a 16-4 lead and didn't look back, pushing its lead to 16 points to close out the half as the Mustangs topped Kansas Wesleyan 83-45 on Wednesday at the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena.

With the victory, Morningside improves to 21-11 and wins its sixth-straight first-round game. The Mustangs advance to the second round for a 5:15 p.m. meeting on Friday against Ozarks (Mo.). Kansas Wesleyan's season comes to a close and finishes with a record of 22-8.
