Top seeded Dakota Wesleyan defeated number two seed Sioux Falls tonight 86-79 in the Championship Game of the 2010 Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament presented by Rawlings. The game was played at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota.
The Tigers, ranked number seven in the NAIA, are now 27-5 and have won sixteen straight games entering the NAIA Men's Division II National Championship. Sioux Falls is now 24-9 on the season. Both teams have earned the GPAC's two automatic berths to the NAIA National Championship.
The Tigers and Cougars join fellow league member Hastings in the NAIA Championship in Point Lookout, Missouri. The tournament will open on Wednesday, March 10 and runs through Tuesday, March 16. The official 32 team bracket will be announced on Wednesday, March 3, on a live broadcast on http://www.collegefanz.com/ and will be released on the NAIA website at http://www.naia.org/.
