The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for February 8 - February 14, 2010. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2009-2010 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events - Janelle Weber, Doane
Doane's Janelle Weber is the field athlete-of-the-week. Weber, a senior from Dorchester, Nebraska, won the triple jump at the Concordia Invite with a jump of 37-3 (11.35 meters). The mark automatically qualifies her for the NAIA National Championships. The jump ranks her 9th in the NAIA and she finished ahead of GPAC leader Charista Zehnder from Concordia in the event.
Track Events - Kendra Knight, Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls' Kendra Knight is the track athlete-of-the-week. Knight, a freshman from Mitchell, South Dakota, ran the 800 for the first time collegiately and posted a time of 2:17.72. The time is a school record and leads the GPAC. She ranks in the top 15 in the NAIA.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events - Brian Schenavar, Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls' Brian Schenaver is the field athlete-of-the-week. Schenaver, a sophomore from Thompson Falls, Montana, set a new USF school record in the pole vault with a leap of 16 feet. The mark ranks him fourth in the NAIA this year.
Track Events - Virgil Mitchell, Doane
Doane's Virgil Mitchell is the track athlete-of-the-week. Mitchell, a junior from Omaha, Nebraska, won three individual events at the Concordia Invite and was on a winning 4x400 relay. His time of 6.88 in the 60 ranks 7th in the NAIA, his time of 21.82 in the 200 ranks second in the NAIA, and his time of 8.09 in the 60 hurdles ranks 3rd in the NAIA. Mitchell leads the GPAC in the 60 hurdles and 200.
The 2010 GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships are THIS Friday and Saturday, February 19-20. Multi-Events will begin at 1PM on Friday, February 19, at Doane College and the GPAC Championships will begin at 9AM (Multi's) and NOON (General Championships) on Saturday, February 20 at the Devaney Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska
