The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for February 1 - February 7, 2010. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2009-2010 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events - Lauren Eickmeyer, Concordia
Concordia's Eickmeyer is the field athlete-of-the-week. Eickmeyer, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, finished second in the shot put at the Husker Invite at Nebraska with a toss of 45-10. This is a GPAC leading throw and ranks her second in the NAIA this season.
Track Events - Anne Kersenbrock, Nebraska Wesleyan
Nebraska Wesleyan's Anne Kersenbrock is the track athlete-of-the-week. Kersenbrock, a senior from O'Neill, Nebraska, won the 55 and 200 at the NWU Quad Meet on Saturday. In the 55 she ran a time of 7.36 and in the 200 she clocked a 26.20. Her 55 time was a personal best. She also won the long jump with a leap of 17-7.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events - Jared Schuurmans, Doane
Doane's Jared Schuurmans is the field athlete-of-the-week. Shuurmans, a senior from Norfolk, Nebraska, won the shot put in the Wichita State Shocker Quad on Saturday. His throw was 55-11 and that ranks second in the NAIA. He also placed sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 51-10.
Track Events - Zach Meineke, Concordia
Concordia's Zach Meineke is the track athlete-of-the-week. Meineke, a senior from Denver, Colorado, posted a time of 8:24.37 in the Special Invite 3000 at the Husker Invite. The time ranks number one in the NAIA and GPAC.
The 2010 GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships are Friday and Saturday,
February 19-20. Multi-Events will begin at 1PM on Friday, February 19, at Doane College and the GPAC Championships will begin at 9AM (Multi's) and NOON (General Championships) on Saturday, February 20 at the Devaney Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska
