![]() Hastings' Jeremiah Slough Named NAIA Player of the Week
Jeremiah Slough of Hastings College (Neb.) was named the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Slough was honored based on his performances from Jan. 25-31. He was chosen out of a pool of player of the week selections among 12 conferences and independents.
Slough, a 6-1 senior guard from Doniphan, Neb., helped Hastings to two road wins last week. He set a Great Plains Athletic Conference scoring record of 61 points in one game, which fell three shy of the national record set back in 1994.
On Jan. 27, Slough netted a conference and school best as he hit 18-for-32 (.563) attempts from the field including 8-for-15 from 3-point range. In the 129-124, four-overtime win over Midland Lutheran (Neb.), he posted seven rebounds, five assists and five steals. In the 89-77 win over Morningside (Iowa) on Jan. 30, Slough recorded 24 points, three assists and two rebounds. In two games last week, Slough averaged 42.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals. He shot 54.2 percent (26-for-48) from the floor, 52.2 percent (12-for-23) from the 3-point line and 77.8 percent (21-for-27) from the foul line. In NAIA statistics, Slough is fourth in assists (6.2 apg), 17th in steals (2.5 spg).
