![]() 10 Questions for 10 Years November Installment This month we will take a look back at the National Champions, Scholar-Athletes, GPAC Streaks, and National Award Winners within the GPAC. It's quite an amazing list for a league that is just 10 years old. I hope you enjoy this look back down memory lane in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
1. How many team National Championships does the GPAC have?
15 NAIA and 1 NCAA Division III team National Champions 2. What schools have won every possible league title in their respective sports? The Hastings men's soccer team has won 10 straight regular season titles and the Doane women's track and field teams have won 10 straight indoor and outdoor titles. 3. What's the longest win streak in any one sport in the GPAC? The Dordt volleyball team won 55 straight matches from October 12, 2002 - September 5, 2006 4. How many win streaks of over 40 conference games does the Sioux Falls football team have? Two - 40 Games from September 15, 2001 - October 15, 2005 and Eight - Including six straight from 2001-2006 and the last two 2008-2009 6. How many NAIA National Players-of-the-Year does the GPAC have? Eleven - including eight in women's basketball 7. How many GPAC coaches have earned NAIA National Coach-of-the-Year honors? Sixteen - Jamie Sale (Morningside) and Tony Hobson (Hastings) have won the honor three times each to lead the list. 8. Which GPAC school leads the NAIA in All-Time NAIA Scholar-Athletes? Concordia of Nebraska has 573 total NAIA Scholar-Athletes (entering this year) 9. Which GPAC school won NAIA National Basketball Titles in the same year? Northwestern in 2001 10. How many NAIA A.O. Duer Award winners and Emil S. Liston Award winners does the GPAC have? The GPAC has five A.O. Duer winners and six Emil S.
