The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2009-2010 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Offense - Lorenzo Brown, Sioux Falls - Quarterback
Sioux Falls quarterback Lorenzo Brown is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Brown, a senior from Bristol, Connecticut, passed for 260 yards and four touchdowns as the Cougars defeated Morningside 49-21 to win the GPAC title. For the game he completed 17-26 passes as Sioux Falls rounded out an 11-0 campaign. Sioux Falls will host Minot State in the first round of the NAIA Championship Series.
Defense -- Dan Schmeichel, Sioux Falls - Defensive Back
Sioux Falls defensive back Dan Schmeichel is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Schmeichel, a junior from Odessa, Minnesota, totaled two interceptions in the Cougars win at Morningside. He also forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery in the win. USF secured their eighth conference title in nine years and their fourth in a row.
Special Teams - Braden Wieking, Sioux Falls - Kicker/Punter
Sioux Falls kicker/punter Braden Wieking is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Wieking, a freshman from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, made all seven PAT's on Saturday in the Cougars win at Morningside. He also five punts totaling 215 yards for an average of 43.2 yards with a long of 53.
