Men's Soccer Championship
Seventh seeded Midland Lutheran scored a goal in the first half on Thursday night and defeated top-seed Hastings 1-0 in the Championship Match of the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Soccer Tournament. Jake Corum's goal on a free kick lifted the Warriors to a record of 10-8-1 and ended a streak of conference postseason titles for the Broncos. Hastings College had won every GPAC Postseason Title since the league began in 2000.

The GPAC Tournament was conducted from 2000-2005 and was suspended for the regional from 2006-2008. The GPAC Postseason Tournament resumed in 2008 when direct qualification was implemented by the NAIA. Hastings has won every GPAC Regular Season Championship in the league for the last ten years. The Broncos, now 15-4-2, will join the Warriors as the conference representatives in the 2009 NAIA National Men's Soccer Tournament.

The NAIA National Men's Soccer Tournament Opening Round will be played on Saturday, November 21. The opening round will feature 32 teams and pairings will be announced on Sunday, November 15.

Sixteen teams will advance to the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Final Site in Fresno, California, at Fresno Pacific University November 30-December 5, 2009.
