Quarterfinals Complete
The quarterfinal round of the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Volleyball Tournament is complete. Top seed Northwestern defeated eight seed Sioux Falls 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 26-24). The Red Raiders will meet rival Dordt in the semifinals on Wednesday night as the fifth seeded Lady Defenders won at four seed Hastings 3-1 (26-24, 28-26, 18-25, 25-14). On the other side of the bracket second seed Morningside swept seven seed Dana 3-0 (25-10, 25-5, 25-11). The Mustangs will host three seed Doane on Wednesday night in the other semifinal as the Tigers won at home over six seed Briar Cliff (25-15, 25-14, 25-16). Both of Wednesday's semifinals will start at 7:30 PM.

The 2009 GPAC Volleyball Tournament features 12 teams. The winner of the tournament receives the second automatic berth to the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament. The GPAC receives two berths because the conference has 12 NAIA volleyball teams.

The NAIA National Volleyball Tournament will begin on Saturday, November 21, with opening round matches at 12 campus sites across the country. The top 11 teams in the country and Morningside College (as local host) will automatically advance to the final field of 24 in Sioux City, Iowa, at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena December 1-5, 2009. The final 12 spots will be filled by the winners of the opening round matches.
