The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2009-2010 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense - Lorenzo Brown, Quarterback - Sioux Falls
  Sioux Falls quarterback Lorenzo Brown is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Brown, a senior from Bristol, Connecticut, completed 20-33 pass attempts for 237 yards and three touchdowns as top-ranked Sioux Falls defeated NCAA Division IAA North Dakota 28-13 on the road. For the game he also had 19 rush attempts for 100 yards and a touchdown. The win improved the Cougars to 7-0 on the season and they will host Dakota Wesleyan next Saturday in a 1PM game at Bob Young Field.

Defense -- Cody Cavender, Defensive Back - Sioux Falls
  Sioux Falls defensive back Cody Cavender is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Cavender, a senior from Redding, California, totaled seven solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in the Cougars 28-13 win in Grand Forks against North Dakota. He also posted an interception late in the game that sealed USF's seventh win of the season and he had two pass breakups in the win. Number one Sioux Falls is now 7-0 and will host Dakota Wesleyan at home on Saturday in a 1PM game.

Special Teams - Darious Bentley, Return Specialist - Midland Lutheran
  Midland Lutheran return specialist Darius Bentley is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Bentley, a freshman from Kissimmee, Florida, took the opening kick-off at Dordt back 75 yards for a touchdown en route to the Warriors fifth win of the year 40-6. For the game he also rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Midland Lutheran is now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC and will return home to host Morningside next Saturday in a 1PM game at Memorial Field in Fremont, Nebraska.
