Defending NAIA Champion Morningside is Coaches Pick

Morningside College received seven first place votes and totaled 139 points and is the preseason coaches' selection to win the 2009-2010 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Basketball Championship. The Mustangs, coached by Jamie Sale, posted a perfect 38-0 record last year and won the NAIA National Title. They went through league play at 18-0.  Northwestern, after a final four appearance in 2009, is tabbed second with 137 points and the remaining six first place votes. The Red Raiders went 26-9 last winter. National Runner-Up Hastings, after compiling a 27-8 record last year, is picked third with 118 points. Sioux Falls was tabbed fourth with 101 points in the poll.

Morningside, Northwestern, Concordia, Hastings, and Mount Marty all advanced to the NAIA National Tournament last season in Sioux City, Iowa.

 
Points were awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches' could not vote for their own team.
