DWU's Bellet Takes Over Medalist Lead

Dakota Wesleyan's women shot a very impressive round of 311 today in Lincoln, Nebraska, at GPAC Women's Golf Qualifier #2 at the Pioneers Golf Course. Today's qualifier was hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University under damp and cool conditions. The round extends the Tiger lead out to 19 strokes over Sioux Falls after 36 holes of play. Dakota Wesleyan's two round total is now at 631 with the Cougars at 650.  

Sioux Falls shot a round of 328 on Monday, while Dana placed third in the qualifier with a team total of 332. In the overall standings Hastings moves into third with day total of 390 and an overall stroke total of 690.

In the medalist race Dakota Wesleyan's Dani Bellet has taken over the lead after a round of 71 today in Lincoln. Bellet, last year's GPAC Women's Golfer-of-the-Year, has a two round total of 148 (77-71). Briar Cliff's Michaela Carew, the leader after the first qualifier at Sioux Falls, shot a round of 82 today and is tied for third overall with a 156. She is tied with Sarah Gilbert from Sioux Falls who shot an 81. Kelli Baseley from Dakota Wesleyan has moved into second with a 36 hole total of 154 and a round of 78 at Pioneers.

The women will now take the winter off and come back with GPAC Qualifier #3 on Saturday, April 10, at Dana College (River Wilds). The fourth and final qualifier will be on May 6 at Briar Cliff (Two Rivers).
