The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, September 26, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2009-2010 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense - Maurice Mansfield, Running Back - Hastings
  Hastings running back Maurice Mansfield is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Mansfield, a senior from Denver, Colorado, carried the ball 38 times for 233 yards in the Broncos home win, 36-14, against Dakota Wesleyan. For the game he rushed for two scores as Hastings improved to 4-1 (3-1 GPAC). The Broncos will play at Dordt at 1PM next Saturday.

 

Defense -- Trevor Holleman, Safety - Sioux Falls
  Sioux Falls safety Trevor Holleman is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Holleman, a senior from New Holland, South Dakota, intercepted a pair of passes and returned one 30 yards for a score in the Cougars 80-0 win at Concordia. For the game he also added four assist tackles as the Cougars are now 4-0 on the season. Top ranked Sioux Falls will host Doane next Saturday at 6PM.

Special Teams - Ernesto Lacayo, Punter/Kicker - Hastings
  Hastings punter/kicker Ernesto Lacayo is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Lacayo, a junior from Hayward, California, kicked a 52 yard field goals as Hastings defeated Dakota Wesleyan 36-14. For the game he had a pair of field goals and made all four of his PAT attempts. Hastings improved to 4-1 (3-1 GPAC) with the win at home. The Broncos will play at Dordt next Saturday in a 1PM kickoff in Sioux Center, Iowa.
