Football Honors
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2009-2010 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense - Beau Kildow, Wide Receiver - Morningside
  Morningside wide receiver Beau Kildow is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Kildow, a senior from Omaha, Nebraska, posted ten receptions for 287 yards and three receiving touchdowns as 5th ranked Morningside defeated 19th ranked Dakota Wesleyan 56-21. The reception yards were the second highest total in Morningside history. Morningside will host Northwestern next Saturday in a 7PM Top-25 match-up at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa.

Defense - Grant Hegstad, Linebacker - Northwestern
  Northwestern line backer Grant Hegstad is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Hegstad, a senior from Sheldon, Iowa, helped lead the Red Raider defense to a 35-3 win over Dordt. For the game he totaled six solo and four assist tackles as the Northwestern defense allowed Dordt just 105 yards of offense in the game. Hegstad also had four tackles for eleven yards of loss. Northwestern will play at Morningside next Saturday night at 7PM.

Special Teams - Ernesto Lacayo, Punter/Kicker - Hastings
  Hastings punter/kicker Ernesto Lacayo is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Lacayo, a junior from Hayward, California, had a big special teams day on Saturday as the Broncos defeated Doane 34-10 in Crete, Nebraska. For the game he totaled seven kickoffs for 432 yards and five punts for 217 yards including a long of 59 yards that was downed at one yard line. He also made all four PAT attempts and was 2-3 on field goals with a long of 42 yards. Hastings is now 2-0 and will host Briar Cliff next Saturday in a 1PM kickoff at Lloyd Wilson Field.
