Volleyball - Mon, Aug 10, 2009
Northwestern College, after a trip to the NAIA National Tournament quarterfinals in 2008, is the GPAC coaches' pick to win the league title in 2009. The Red Raiders, coached by Kyle Van Den Bosch, compiled a 30-9 overall record last fall and won the conference regular season title with a 16-0 record. Northwestern accumulated 142 points and ten first place votes in the poll of league coaches. Morningside, who posted a 37-6 record last fall and won postseason league championship, is tabbed number two in the preseason with 133 points and the other three first place votes. Dordt was picked third in the vote with 114 points, while Doane is fourth with 107 points and the final first place vote. Morningside, Dordt, and Doane all joined Northwestern at the NAIA National Volleyball Championship Final Site in Sioux City last year. The 2009 NAIA National Volleyball Championship is set for December 1-5 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

The 2009 GPAC volleyball season will once again consist of 16 conference matches with 13 teams competing for the conference crown. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the preseason poll.
