Honors Announced
Men's Outdoor T&F - Thu, May 7, 2009
Honors for the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Women's Track and Field Season have been announced.

Concordia's Charista Zehnder was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Year. Zehnder scored 31.5 points in the GPAC Championships for Bulldogs. Doane's Virgil Mitchell was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete-of-the-Year. Mitchell scored 22.5 points in the GPAC Championships for the Tigers.

Mount Marty's Laura Wortmann and Nebraska Wesleyan's Bridget Baldwin were awarded the Women's Top Performances-of-the-Meet. Wortmann earned the honor after her record setting throw in the discus. Her mark was 168-01 (51.24 meters). Baldwin set the GPAC 3,000 meter steeplechase record with a time of 10:55.72. Doane's Jared Schuurmans has been awarded the Men's Top Performance-of-the-Meet. Schuurmans earned the honor after his record setting throw in the discus. His mark was 183-09 (56.01 meters).

Kregg Einspahr, head coach from Concordia, was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's and Men's Track and Field Coach-of-the-Year.

Doane's women won the team championship for the eleventh straight year scoring 167 points in the meet. Concordia placed second and Nebraska Wesleyan was third.

Doane's men won the team championship for the second straight year scoring 207.5 points in the meet. Concordia placed second and Nebraska Wesleyan was third.
