![]() Weekly GPAC Track and Field Honors The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following outdoor track & field player-of-the-week for April 13 - April 19, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2008-2009 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week Track Events - Emily Wolters, Concordia University Concordia's Emily Wolters is the track athlete-of-the-week. Wolters, a senior from Atwood, Kansas, won the 400 meter intermediate hurdles at the Doane Relays with a mark of 1:02.22. This is a NAIA and GPAC season leading time and re-sets her own Concordia school record. At the Doane Relays, she was also the lead off leg on the winning 4 x 400 meter relay and the runner-up 4 x 100 meter relay. Field Events - Laura Wortmann, Mt. Marty College
Mount Marty's Laura Wortmann is the field athlete-of-the-week. Wortmann, a senior from Crofton, Nebraska, won the discus and placed third in the shot put at the Northwestern College Invite. She won the discus with a mark of 157 feet and currently is ranked first in the GPAC and second in the NAIA with that mark. She placed third in the shot put with a distance of 48 feet 1.75 inches. She is currently rated first in the GPAC and fourth nationally in the shot put. Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week Field Events - Jordan Hinrichs, Concordia University Concordia's Jordan Hinrichs is the field athlete-of-the-week. Hinrichs, a senior from Geneva, Nebraska, won the hammer throw at the Doane Relays with a distance of 187 feet 11 inches. His toss set a new Concordia school record and leads the GPAC this season.
