The third of four Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Golf Qualifiers was played on Monday in Fremont, Nebraska, at the Fremont Golf Club. The 18 hole event was hosted by Midland Lutheran College.
Dakota Wesleyan extended their overall team lead out to 55 strokes after shooting a team leading score of 350. The Tigers three round total now stands at 1018. Northwestern placed second in the qualifier with a round of 369. The University of Sioux Falls remained in second after three meets with a round three total of 375. The Cougars score after 54 holes is 1073.
The top two teams, after the fourth and final qualifier later this month, will advance to the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships in May. The NAIA Women's Nationals will be played in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the Meadowbrook Golf Course. Individually Dakota Wesleyan's Danielle Bellet medalist lead is at four strokes (243) after shooting an 86 (45, 41) on the day. Jenny Andrew from Hastings medaled for the second qualifier in a row. Andrew shot a 41, 43 for an 18 hole round of 84. She was the medalist of qualifier number two at Lochland in the fall. Kelli Baseley from Dakota Wesleyan is second in the individual competition with a 54 hole total of 247. The fourth and final GPAC Women's Golf Qualifier will be played on Friday, April 24, at the Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City, Iowa. Northwestern will host the final event. The men's fourth and final qualifier will be played on Tuesday, April 28, at Whispering Creek in Sioux City, Iowa. Dakota Wesleyan leads the team competition, while there is a three way tie atop the men's leader board.
