Broncos Wear Tourney Slipper Into St. Pats Day Title Tilt

The Hastings (Neb.) Broncos continued their run through the NAIA Division II Women's National Basketball Tournament with a 75-60 win over the College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Monday, March 14. The Broncos ended a run of three straight title game appearances by the Bobcats in the process.  

Hastings took control midway through the first half and led 35-26 at the half. The Broncos made fifty percent of their three-point tries and never had their lead reduced under nine points in the second half in winning their 27th game of the season.

The Ozarks were limited to 21-59 shooting from the floor for 35.6 percent and they made 14-24 free throws. Hastings knocked in 23-51 shots for 45.1 percent and they were 9-18 from the three-point line and 20-23 on free throws.

Hastings was led by Lindsay Ducey's 23 points and Kay Broekemeier had 15. Ducey also led Hastings to a slight 38-36 rebounding edge with 14 caroms. Lindsay Murray had 16 points and eight rebounds to pace the Bobcats who close their season with a 29-6 record.

Hastings will face Morningside (Iowa) in the title game on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. Morningside won the regular season meeting between the two on January 17, 75-59. Hastings has three NAIA Division II Women's National Tournaments in 2002, 2003 and 2006. Morningside has won two titles in 2004 and 2005.
