Red Raiders Advance to Monday NAIA Play
Northwestern College (Iowa) used a 9-2 run in the middle of the first half to distance themselves from the Davenport University Panthers en route to a 76-66 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2009 NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Red Raiders had jumped out to a 13-4 lead four minutes into the game but Davenport countered with a 10-2 run to cut the lead back to one, 15-14. Northwestern then went on a 9-2 run over the next five minutes to distance themselves before taking a 41-34 lead into the intermission. Northwestern then hit 20-of-24 free throws in the second half to keep the Panthers from closing the gap.

Northwestern had five players score in double digits with Becca Hurley and Kami Kuhlmann leading the way with 18 points a piece. Randa Hulstein chipped in with 15 points with Kristin Neth and Val Kleinjan each adding 10 points. Hulstein, Hurley, and Neth each registered double-doubles with 15, 12, and 10 rebounds a piece respectively.

Brittany Lyman led the Panthers with 11 points while Janelle Bagneski and Karlee Despres each added 10 points for Davenport.

Northwestern moves on to take on Morningside for the fourth time this season in Monday's 6 p.m. semifinal.
