Morningside Top Seed in GPAC Women's Basketball Tourney
Morningside will be the number one seed when the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Postseason Basketball Championships begin on Tuesday, February 24. The Mustangs went 18-0 in the league to win the GPAC regular season championship and also secured an automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Division II National Tournament in Sioux City. Top ranked Morningside finished the regular season at 30-0.

Northwestern will be the number two seed, Concordia the three seed, and Mount Marty the fourth and final seed. The top four seeds will have first round byes and not play on Tuesday. The fifth through 12th seeds will play opening round games on Tuesday with the winners advancing to the quarterfinals on Thursday, February 26. The semifinals are on Saturday, February 28, at the highest two remaining seeds. GPAC Championship Tuesday, sponsored by Rawlings, will be on Tuesday, March 3. The GPAC Postseason Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (Morningside) wins the postseason).
