USA Indoor T&F Championships
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's and men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for February 9- February 15, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2008-2009 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events
Abby Schlueter, Doane
 
Doane's Abby Schlueter is the field athlete-of-the-week. Schlueter, a senior from Beatrice, Nebraska, posted an NAIA automatic qualifying mark in the triple jump on Saturday at the Doane Valentine's Day Invite. Her measurement was 37-04. She also posted provisional marks in the long jump (17-10.75) and the 55 meter hurdles (8.70). Schlueter was last year's GPAC Athlete-of-the-Meet at the conference championships where she scored 24 points for the Tigers. Doane is the defending women's indoor conference champion and has won 18 straight league indoor titles in a row dating back to 1991.
 
Track Events
Anne Kersenbrock, Nebraska Wesleyan
 
Nebraska Wesleyan's Anne Kersenbrock is the track athlete-of-the-week. Kersenbrock, a junior from O'Neill, Nebraska, won the 55 and 200 meters on Saturday at the Buena Vista Dennis Young Classic in Storm Lake, Iowa. Her time in the 55 meters was 7.44, while in the 200 she ran a clocking of 26.37. She also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 5.11 meters. Nebraska Wesleyan's women won the team title by 44 points on the day.
 
Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes-of-the-Week
Field Events
Jared Schuurmans, Doane
  Doane's Jared Schuurmans is the field athlete-of-the-week. Schuurmans, a junior from Norfolk, Nebraska, posted to NAIA automatic qualifying marks on Saturday at the Doane Valentine's Day Invite. In the shot put he posted a measurement of 56-01.25 and in the weight throw a toss of 58-07.50. He and his Doane teammates are the defending GPAC indoor champions.
 

Track Events
Michael Saalfeld, Concordia
 
Concordia's Michael Saalfeld is the track athlete-of-the-week. Saalfeld, a senior from David City, Nebraska, posted the NAIA's top time this season in the indoor 800 with a time of 1:50.06 at the Iowa State Open. He broke his own school by almost two seconds. The time also qualifies him for the United States Indoor Track and Field Championships in Boston, Mass later this month.
