Dana College scored 105.5 team points and had four of the ten individual champions at the 2009 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday (Feb. 14) at the Gardner-Hawks Center on the Dana College campus at Blair, Nebraska.

Dana freshman Clayden McKim (Omaha, Neb.) was the 125 pound champion and was named the 2009 GPAC Tournament Outstanding Wrestler. McKim won by a fall 6-3 decision in the finals and won a 3-2 decision in the semifinals. Dana head coach Beau Vest was named the 2009 GPAC Coach of the year. The remaining All-GPAC team will be announced Tuesday.

Morningside scored 76 points and had two individual champions to finish as the runner-up. Northwestern had 74 points with three champions followed by Briar Cliff with 56.0 and a champion, Dakota Wesleyan with 46.0, Hastings College with 37.5, and the University of Sioux Falls finished with 20.5 points.

Dana had champions at 141 with Adam Manz (Council Bluffs, Iowa). Other champions for Dana College were Ryan Bulla Tuzon (Kahului, Hawaii) at 165 pounds and Jon Wilbourne (Lake Stevens, Wash.) at 285. The Vikings had a technical fall, two major decisions and a decision in the championships. Seven of the 12 Dana wrestlers made it to the finals.

Morningside's Chris Utesch got a decision win in the 133 championship. Joe Locket and Zach Andersen were co-champions at 184 pounds. Locket was named champion without wrestling.

For Northwestern, 149-pounder Levi Price brought home the title with a 3-1 decision in the finals. Tom Eaton won the title at 174 pounds with a 4-2 decision. Nic Leither won an 11-1 decision at 197 pounds.

Freshman Jeremy Garvin got a win by pin at 157 to give Briar Cliff their champion.

All seven GPAC schools will be in action next weekend at Hastings, Nebraska, when they take part in the NAIA Regional Tournament.

The NAIA North Regional Qualifier is next Saturday (February 21) at Hastings College. The Tournament will be the GPAC Teams (7) + Jamestown and Dickinson State.
