![]() Concordia's Michael Saalfeld Leads the NAIA in the 600 and 1000 Meters The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's and men's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for January 12 - January 19, 2009. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2008-2009 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events Kayla Friesen, Sioux Falls Sioux Falls' Kayla Friesen is the field athlete-of-the-week. Friesen, a freshman from Alliance, Nebraska, placed first in the pole vault at the USD John Dalton Invite on Saturday in Vermillion. He jump of 11-06 won the event and automatically qualified her for the NAIA National Championships. Her win came against NCAA competition in the meet. Track Events
Kara Nelson, Morningside Morningside's Kara Nelson is the track athlete-of-the-week. Nelson, a sophomore from Cherokee, Iowa, placed third both the mile and 3000 meters at the USD John Dalton Invite in Vermillion. In the mile she clocked a time of 5:11.65 and in the 3K her time was 10:35.94. She has the fifth fastest time in the NAIA in the mile and 10th in the 3K. Field Events Ben Zuch, Midland Lutheran Midland Lutheran's Ben Zuch is the field athlete-of-the-week. The sophomore from Fremont, Nebraska, was the top NAIA performer in the high jump at the UNL Holiday Inn Invite in Lincoln. His jump of 6-08.25 (2.04 meters) automatically qualifies him for NAIA Nationals and is the 3rd best jump in the country this year. Track Events Indoor Track and Field Meets This Week
