Dordt and Hastings Women Secure NAIA Soccer Tourney Berths
Dordt and Hastings Women Secure NAIA Soccer Tourney Berths
Top seed Dordt and second seed Hastings each posted semifinal wins on Saturday in the 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Soccer Tournament. Dordt defeated fifth seed Morningside in Sioux Center, Iowa, by the final of 2-1. Hastings defeated six seed Dana in Hastings, Nebraska, by the final of 3-0. The Lady Defenders and Broncos will now meet in the GPAC Tournament Championship Match on Thursday, November 13, at 2 PM in Sioux Center, Iowa. Because Dordt won the regular season title and the GPAC is guaranteed two bids (Dordt has NAIA bid number one) to the NAIA Tournament field of 32, both teams will advance to represent the conference in the NAIA National Tournament.

The NAIA National Soccer Tournament Opening Round is on Saturday, November 22. The GPAC is allotted two automatic berths because we have 12 NAIA teams in the conference. Sixteen teams will advance to the final NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Site in Daytona Beach, Florida, at Embry Riddle University this December 1-6.
