![]() Concordia's Meineke Places First in GPAC Men's XC Championships Concordia's Zach Meineke was the individual champion and Nebraska Wesleyan the team champion in the 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Cross Country Championships in Hastings, Nebraska, today. The 8K race was run at the Elks Country Club. The temperature was 32 degrees with a 20 mile per hour wind at race time.
Meineke, a junior from Denver, Colorado, clocked a winning time was 25:29.49. Luke Thor from Concordia placed second with a time of 25:42.02, while Andrew Laflin from Nebraska Wesleyan was third with a time of 25:49.4. The team title race came down to one point today. Nebraska Wesleyan scored 38 points to claim the league title, while Concordia was second with 39 points. Doane was third with 105. In the NAIA Qualifier portion of the meet (under Direct Qualification - New in 2008) Concordia and Doane will to the National Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Saturday, November 22. The top seven individual runners, not on the two qualifying teams, that are in the top 20 will also advance to the NAIA Championships. These runners will be pulled from the NAIA Qualifier Results (which excludes Nebraska Wesleyan - NCAA Division III for postseason).
The Top 15 runners in the GPAC Race are considered All-Conference for 2008.
