Dordt to Advance to First NAIA National Women's Soccer Tournament
Dordt to Advance to First NAIA National Women's Soccer Tournament
The Dordt College women's soccer team clinched the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season title with a 3-2 overtime win Tuesday afternoon, October 28, against the Morningside Mustangs. The Defenders overcame two-one goal deficits to force overtime and then won the game on a Rindy De Nooy goal off an assist by Kate Du Mez.

The win gave Dordt College a 10-0 record in the GPAC with two games to play and secured the title for Dordt and the #1 seed in the post-season conference tournament beginning November 4. Hastings is currently second in the standings with an 8-2-1 record and cannot catch the Defenders in the standings.

The conference title also secures a first-ever NAIA National Tournament berth for the Defenders. Dordt will be one of 32 teams playing in first round action November 22 at sites to be determined by the NAIA. The 16 winners of the first-round games will advance to the final site in Daytona Beach, Florida, December 1-6.

This is the second GPAC women's soccer title for Dordt College with the first title coming in 2002 when the Defenders went a perfect 10-0 in league play.

Dordt College is coached by first-year head coach Dave Schenk.
