Baseball - Pitcher of the Week
Isaac Horigan
Northwestern College
Northwestern’s Isaac Horigan is the GPAC/Hauff-Mid America Sports Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Horigan, a 6’4 sophomore from Ventura, California, picked up two GPAC wins on the week including a complete game against Dakota Wesleyan, giving up just four hits and one run to go along with eight strikeouts against the Tigers. His ERA for the week was 1.17 with an opponents’ batting average of .228. He is now 3-0 in GPAC games and 5-1 overall.

Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week
Mark Abrams
Morningside College
Morningside’s Mark Abrams is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Track Athlete-of-the-Week. Abrams, a sophomore from Glenwood, Iowa, won the 10,000-meters and finished second in the 5,000-meters to lead the Mustangs’ individual performers at the Sioux City Relays on April 11-12. His time of 32:19.30 in the 10,000-meters is a new Morningside school record.

Mitch Peschon
Northwestern College
Northwestern junior right fielder Mitch Peschon is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Baseball Player-of-the-Week after batting .524 on the week with three home runs, eight runs scored and four stolen bases. The Spirit Lake, Iowa, native currently leads the GPAC in home runs with nine this season. Northwestern, #24 in the latest NAIA poll, went 6-1 on the week and is 28-8 overall.

Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week
Sandrae Farquharson
Doane College
Doane’s Sandrae Farquharson is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Track Athlete-of-the-Week. The sophomore from Queens, New York, won four events at the Concordia Invite on Saturday, hitting NAIA “A” standard marks in each. In the 200-meter dash, her time of 24.34 seconds was the top time in the GPAC and ranks fifth in the NAIA. Her time of 54.85 in the 400-meters ranks first in both the GPAC and the NAIA and she anchored both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter winning relay teams for the Tigers. The 4x100-meter relay team’s time of 47.58 breaks a 15-year old school record.

Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week
Zach Lurz
Concordia University
Zach Lurz of Concordia is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Field Athlete-of-the-Week for the second straight week. The Torrington, Wyoming, native continued his breakout freshman season with first place finishes in the shot put (57’3”) and discus (166’1”) and a third place finish in the hammer throw (186’3”). His mark in the shot put broke the school record and currently ranks first in the GPAC and second in the NAIA.

McKay Inman
Hastings College
McKay Inman of Hastings is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Week. Inman, a junior for the Broncos from Colorado Springs, went 2-0 in singles on the week with two wins over high-quality opponents, helping Hastings to a 2-0 start in the GPAC. He is now 9-12 on the year in singles and 8-10 in doubles.

Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week
Neeia Cooperwood
Morningside College
Omaha native Neeia Cooperwood of Morningside College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Cooperwood’s jump of 19-5 ¼ in the long jump at the Sioux City Relays is the best in the NAIA this season and was good enough for second in the field of 43 jumpers. The junior also won three sprint events and was named MVP of the Sioux City Relays in the women’s collegiate division for the second year in a row.

Softball - Pitcher of the Week
Jordan Johnson
Morningside College
Morningside’s Jordan Johnson is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Johnson, a 5’5 senior from Sioux City, Iowa, was the winning pitcher in five of the Mustangs’ seven victories on the week, giving up just one run. She has an ERA of 0.71 over her last 69.1 innings pitched. She helped her own cause, hitting .400 with two doubles, one triple, one home run and three RBI’s. In Saturday’s showdown of the top two teams in the GPAC against Concordia, she pitched a seven-hit shutout and hit a solo home run to account for the game’s only run in a 1-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

Kati Steffen
Morningside College
Morningside first baseman Kati Steffen is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Player of the week. A 6’0 senior out of Moville, Iowa, Steffen hit .440 with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs to help the Mustangs extend their winning streak to 15 games. Morningside is now 20-6 overall and undefeated in GPAC play at 10-0.

Men's Golf - Golfer of the Week
Jesse Nissen
Doane College
Doane’s Jesse Nissen is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week. A junior from Hampton, Nebraska, Nissen helped the Tigers to a victory in the Doane Spring Invitational over the weekend, shooting a 3-over par. His score of 146 was good enough for an individual finish of second in a field of 38. Doane won in a team playoff over Southeast Community College, their first ever win over SECC.

Women's Tennis - Player of The Week
Valerie Robinson
Northwestern College
Northwestern’s Valerie Robinson is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player-of-the-Week. The Vermillion, South Dakota, product helped lead the Red Raiders to a 2-1 record last week in conference play. Robinson, a sophomore, went a perfect 3-0 at both #2 singles and #2 doubles in wins over Morningside, Hastings and Nebraska Wesleyan, winning all three of her singles’ matches in straight sets. She won both matches against Nebraska Wesleyan, handing the Prairie Wolves their first loss in GPAC play since 2010. She is now 8-2 in singles and 7-2 in doubles on the season.

Fremont, Neb. – Midland University Head Softball Coach Keith Kramme recorded his 500th career victory on Saturday afternoon, as the Warriors defeated Dordt College, 7-6, in the opener of a doubleheader at Christensen Field. Kramme is in his 19th season as head coach of the Warriors, and owns a 500-465-1 career record.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University has named Scott Ballinger as the new baseball coach for the Prairie Wolves program.  He will replace Bill Fagler who is retiring at the end of the 2014 season.

Ballinger is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Nebraska Wesleyan program.  His primary coaching responsibilities the past three years have been working with the outfielders and assisting with the pitching staff.
