Doane College
Doane’s Kale Wolken is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Wolken, a sophomore from Tecumseh, Nebraska, posted the top mark in the NAIA and set a school record with 7,204 points in the decathlon at the 66th annual Doane Relays in Crete over the weekend. His mark topped the record of 2013 NAIA champion Rob Keeney (7,195). Wolken posted the top time/mark in eight out of ten events.

Morningside College
Morningside’s Matt Pitts is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Golfer-of-the-Week after having his best outing of the year at the Hastings Wild West Invite last week. Pitts, a senior out of Cherokee, Iowa, was the top finisher at the meet, shooting one over par and finishing with a score of 73.

Northwestern College
Northwestern senior shortstop Cody Groskreutz is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Baseball Player-of-the-Week after recording a hit in each of the Red Raiders’ six games on the week. He hit .526 with eight runs scored, 11 RBIs, two stolen bases, three doubles and a triple in five wins for Northwestern. Cody, a native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, has a .373 average on the year and is second in the GPAC with 44 runs scored and fourth in RBIs with 41. Northwestern (33-9, 12-4 GPAC) is third in the GPAC standings and ranked 20th in the latest NAIA poll.

Dakota Wesleyan University
Dakota Wesleyan’s Jill Dickson is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Pitcher of the Week. Dickson, a senior, threw a five-inning shutout against GPAC-leading Morningside in a 10-1 win for the Tigers. Dickson gave up only two hits in the game and struck out eight batters in the win. On the season she has given up just 23 earned runs in 65.1 innings while striking out 56 hitters.

Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week
Jeriah Dunk
Northwestern College
Jeriah Dunk of Northwestern is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Track Athlete-of-the-Week. Dunk, a senior out of Whittier, California, came into last with the top times in the GPAC in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. He and took first in both as well as a first place finish in the 4x100-meter relay at the Red Raider Open. Dunk won the 100-meters with a time of 10.91 seconds and crossed the finish line in 21.93 seconds in the 200-meters.

Kendra Ritter
Doane College
Doane’s Kendra Ritter is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women's Tennis Player-of-the-Week. Ritter, a sophomore from Axtell, Nebraska, won both her singles and doubles match on the week as the Tigers defeated Hastings for the first time in more than 10 years. She took No. 1 singles in a tiebreaker and teamed with Torey Kogel for the doubles win.

Joe Ritzdorf
Hastings College
Joe Ritzdorf of Hastings is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Week. The senior out of York, Nebraska, is playing some of the best tennis of his career for the Broncos, picking up a win in both singles and doubles against Doane last week in a 7-2 win for Hastings. Ritzdorf is now 9-12 overall on the year.

Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week
Jennifer Maag
Hastings College
Scottsbluff, Nebraska, native and Hastings junior Jennifer Maag is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Jenn finished seventh in the shot put and first of all non-Division I competitors at the Kansas Relays with a throw of 49' 2¼ meters, an “A” standard qualifying throw and the best in the NAIA this season. In the hammer throw, Maag finished 11th overall with an “A” standard qualifying mark of 169' 8" meters, a career-best for her and the third best in the GPAC this season.

Amy Ahlers
Concordia University
Amy Ahlers of Concordia is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week. A freshman from Albion, Nebraska, Ahlers finished first individually at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite last week, helping the Bulldogs to a fourth place team finish. Ahlers won with a seven over par 80 on the day. She carries a season average of 84.67 through nine rounds.

Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week
Lauren Shomaker
Hastings College
Lauren Shomaker of Hastings College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Track Athlete-of-the-Week. The junior out of Littleton, Colorado, started this past week by running the 5k on Thursday at the Kansas Relays, finishing fifth overall and first out of all NAIA runners. Her time of 17:30.83 was an “A” standard qualifying time, ranks first in the GPAC, and breaks the Broncos’ previous school record by 21 seconds. Lauren then ran the 10k on Friday at the Doane Relays in Crete where she finished first with a “B” standard qualifying time and the second best in the GPAC this season.

Heather Sabata
Hastings College
Hastings first baseman Heather Sabata is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Softball Player of the week. A sophomore from Columbus, Nebraska, Sabata played a key role in the Broncos’ two come-from-behind wins against Morningside on the week. In the first game of the doubleheader, Sabata hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings where Hastings would eventually get the 9-8 win. In the second game, she hit a grand slam in the first inning to put Hastings in front 5-1. Hastings is now 19-16 overall and 8-4 in the GPAC.

Baseball - Pitcher of the Week
Elliott Engle
Doane College
Doane’s Elliott Engle is the GPAC/Hauff-Mid America Sports Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week. A Lincoln native and senior for the Tigers, Engle tied a school record with 14 strikeouts in a 6-2 victory over Concordia. He gave up only six hits through seven innings in the win and improves his record to 8-1 on the year. Engle leads the GPAC with a 0.69 ERA and in strikeouts per nine innings with 9.15. Doane stands alone in first in the GPAC standings at 16-0 and is No. 13 in the latest NAIA poll.

The Dakota Wesleyan Women shot a round of 344 on Wednesday to claim team honors at the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Golf Qualifier #3 in Fremont, Nebraska.  Wednesday's Women's GPAC Qualifier #3 was played at the Fremont Country Club and was hosted by Midland University.

The time schedule for the 2014 GPAC Tennis Championship has been announced.  The 2014 Championship will be played at the Fremont High School Tennis Complex in Fremont, Nebraska.  The dates are Friday-Saturday, May 2-3.  Midland University will serve as the host school.
